The first release of the 2009 Braun car is now available after continual delays. The Scalextric Brawn GP Jenson Button C3047A car is finished in fantastic detail and has many changes over the recently released F1 cars.
The tyres are fill slicks rather than the grooved tyres that featured over the past few years in an attempt to slow the cars for their own safety.
The best change is on the chassis, Scalextric have redesigned the front of the chassis to now accept the digital plug with far more easy, previous F1 DPR cars had some real problems fitting the plugs without feeling like you were going to snap the chassis and on many occasions the chassis would bend as a result of fitting the chip. The chip is nearly as easy to fit as the saloon car chip, which is the best news of all about this car. We hope that the chassis design for the remaining F1 cars set for release this year follow this design.
Scalextric claim that the item is limited edition but with a release of 5000 cars its rarity is not ever going to be an issue. Most Scalextric cars only have a production run of around 2000-2500. In some cases far lower such as this year’s Audi R8, we believe there are only around 1000-1200 of these cars that have been produced. Collectors should be weary of some limited edition cars and ensure that they research their purchases carefully.
